A Place For Those Who Dare to Create

A note from Alex Allison I Creator & Founder I D. Alexander

In all of us is a creator who dares to create. Some create big, and others are subtle in how they move. Take my dad for example — he built my childhood home in his early 20s, and there was always a project going on in our household for as long as I can remember. Building was his unique form of creating. The act of creation looks different for everyone, and as human beings, creating is what brings new life into the world. It’s what inspires innovation and breakthroughs. It challenges the norms and introduces new ways of thinking that are otherwise considered farfetched. It makes us not settle and it inspires us to push boundaries in ways people think are impossible.

Big or small, new or iterative, all creations need the space to be created by the creators that create them. A space of focus, a tribe of careful critique and encouragement, a place to be that empowers us to create in the ways that we wish, uninhibited.

Over the course of our personal and professional lives, we’ve seen creators flourish or fall, often from the situational or surrounding circumstances they cannot control… The commute to the city, the struggle to keep up with the house and anything in between. Creativity often becomes secondary to the lives that surround it.

Creators need a place to “be.” However they want to “be.”

I've been fortunate to work alongside the most brilliant group of creators at D. Alexander. Short of explaining what all of this means, we went to work on providing a platform that unlocks the creator within, using D. Alexander Destinations and Homes as a collective canvas to inspire and unleash expression.

Today, I’m excited to share a new kind of community and rallying a call to the creators in all of us. The people who create by introducing new concepts or those who simply pack in study time by listening to books while they drive… The calling to create within those that dare to is strong, and we are here to celebrate that.

Throughout the next several weeks, we’re going to share your stories. We’re going to uncover the creators, the doers, the thinkers and builders: everyone from the philosopher that puts watercolors to paper — from home to home and place to place… to the couple artists duo that spent months on end crafting their next cover album… to the group seekers that are planning their next decade… to the videographer capturing the world for others to enjoy… to the events builder and startup fiancé that’s preparing for their baby on the way and the new ad-venture underway… to the CFO that spent two months sleeping on his company’s products (mattresses)… to our very first guest who spent a month crafting up memories with 3 children and their children, just to book his next stay a year away before packing up and dusting the sand off his feet… to the MLB veteran that broke away for the fresh Sedona air and family time, when training camp got canceled… to the creators and creatives hosting workshops, fueling the next generation of creators… and to our founding team and first team member who traveled the country onboarding and engineering the best homes, in the best places for others to create (in).

We are here to celebrate the creator that lives within us all. Next month, we're selecting creators to work from a D. Alexander Destination Home, on us, with us. As part of that, we ask you to share how you create and we’ll share some of our favorite stories of how those that dared to create found the power within themselves to create something remarkable.

Creators Create,
